This book is a scientific exploration of obvious, but surprisingly overlooked phenomenon. Namely, about one third of all mammalian species looks like mice and rats, even if they are actually not mice and rats. The book resolves this mystery. It explains why these animals have a mouse-like body structure, describes the diversity of mouse-like mammals, and reveal their role in nature and in the evolution of mammals.
